Think of every day like a snowflake. Every day is different from the next. It is up to you to ensure you are adequately prepared for that. First and foremost, it is important to know that things happen. That is simply apart of what we call life. As things come up, be prepared for the possibility for a crisis to arise, behaviors to change and even for media outlets to change.

The key to maintaining a lasting career, however, is acknowledging these changes and knowing how to keep up with them. It is necessary to always be prepared and to know how to navigate fast paced, unpredictable atmospheres. Simply put, leverage the unexpected. What exactly does that mean though? In other words, you must learn to use these unexpected, seemingly detrimental occurrences to your advantage. No matter what career path you take, you must be able to make the most of any situation for optimal outcomes.

In any position, sometimes this means ditching the plan and pivoting. Sometimes it is not a matter of changing the message, service or product, rather your means of delivery. You have to be willing to change the communication but in order to do this you must change the way in which you communicate set messaging, thus changing the perceived interpretation. Whether it be internal stakeholders within an establishment or external stakeholders such as a brand's consumers, you must know how to understand the conversation and know when it is time to pivot.

This comes with a willingness to take risks. Taking risks comes with understanding when the potential for opportunity presents itself and being able to convey this to employers, employees, clients or any other stakeholders. When you are passionate and have the confidence to believe in what you are trying to accomplish, it is important to require the same of those around you. This will be attainable once you discover your passion and raw talent and begin to utilize it to maximum potential. Once you learn to drive different attention around different problems, you will drive your career to the next level.

It is of great importance to always have new innovations and ways of making seemingly old ideas or methods, refreshingly new without actually changing the heart of it. By understanding that you cannot control everything nor keep things the same, you will open your horizon to a world of new ideas, concepts and more efficient ways of doing your job, all while learning the art of leveraging the unexpected into work that does not need to be corrected.
